Examples of when a BC regulator may refer you to Inspire
- You are currently (or previously were) registered as a nurse in another Canadian province or territory and have not met the required practice hours.
- You are a former or non-practising BCCNM registrant wanting to re-enter practice.
- You are currently registered or seeking registration with BCCNM, and competency assessment is required for any other reason.
- You are seeking registration as an HCA only (referral by CACHWR) and you are not an internationally educated nurse.
Referral Process
- Regulator determines that a competency assessment is required.
- Regulator enters your referral into Inspire’s system.
NOTE: If a regulator informs you that you have been/will be referred to Inspire, please do not create an Inspire account for yourself. If you create your own account, this will open an invalid IEN Pathway application, which may result in duplicate accounts and delay your process.
If you have been referred and have mistakenly created your own account, or if you have a previously existing account – please contact us as soon as possible.
- Inspire will send you a welcome email with instructions about how to access your account.
- Log into your account and complete Inspire’s consent and confidentiality agreements.
- Inspire will contact you via email and invite you to schedule and pay for your competency assessment. If the regulator has confirmed your referral and you have not heard from us within approximately one week, please reach out to us
- Pay for, schedule and complete both parts of your competency assessment.
- Inspire will share your performance report with you within 60 days of you completing the assessment.
- You will have 15 days to review your report, during which time you may request a reconsideration, or you may waive this period and have your report sent to the regulator sooner.
- Inspire will share your performance report with the regulator.
- The regulator will review your performance report and other details, and reach out to you with a registration decision and/or next steps.
If you have any questions about referrals, please contact Inspire.
