Simulation Lab Assessments (SLA)

What to expect in your SLA assessment.

SLA - RN/LPN

The RN/LPN simulation lab assessment allows you to show your knowledge and skills through a series of simulated patient encounters.​

  • You will move through either five (RN) or three (LPN) stations of unfolding case scenarios.
  • Two stations will involve a face-to-face encounter with a standardized patient (trained actor).
  • Three stations will involve a high-fidelity mannequin.
  • It will take 25 minutes to complete each station.
  • It will take about 3.5 hours to complete the assessment. ​

SLA - Triple Track

The Triple Track simulation lab assessment allows you to show your knowledge and skills through a series of simulated patient encounters.​​

  • You will move through 10 stations of unfolding case scenarios (five RNLPN scenarios in the morning and five HCA scenarios in the afternoon).
  • It will take about 5.25 hours to complete the assessment.

SLA - RPN

The RPN simulation lab assessment allows you to show your knowledge and skills through a series of simulated patient encounters.

  • You will move through three stations of unfolding case scenarios.
  • At each station you will have virtual encounters with a standardized patient (trained actor) and a nurse assessor. An assessment proctor will also be present.
  • It will take 45 minutes to complete work at each station.​ 
  • In the final 10 minutes, you will be asked 3-to 4 questions related to your patient’s case.
  • It will take four hours to complete the RPN SLA.​

SLA - HCA

The HCA simulation lab assessment allows you to show your knowledge and skills through a series of simulated patient encounters.​​

  • You will move through five stations of unfolding case scenarios.
  • Three stations will involve a face-to-face encounter with a standardized patient (trained actor).
  • Two stations involve a high-fidelity mannequin.
  • It will take 12 minutes to complete each station.
  • It will take two hours to complete the assessment.
